Automobile Repair Tip: Many 1990's thru 2008 GM cars have "Anti-Theft" ignition key pellet resistors
Worn-out ignition locks & aftermarket remote starters require bypassing the ignition key resistor
Pellet CodeKey Resistanceuse these (1/4 or 1/2W) resistors (in series)
#1 402 ohms use 390 ohms
#2 523 ohms use 470 + 56 ohms
#3 681 ohms use 680 ohms
#4 887 ohms use 820 + 68 ohms
#5 1130 ohms use 1K + 120 ohms
#6 1470 ohms use 1K + 470 ohms
#7 1870 ohms use 1.8K + 68 ohms
#8 2370 ohms use 2.2K + 180 ohms
#9 3010 ohms use 2.2K + 820 ohms
#10 3740 ohms use 3.3K + 220 + 220 ohms
#11 4750 ohms use 4.7K + 47 ohms
#12 6040 ohms use 3.3K + 2.7K + 39 ohms
?? 6300 ohms use 3.3K + 2K + 1K
#13 7500 ohms use 3.3K + 3.3K + 890 ohms

#15 11,770 ohms use 5.6K + 5.6K + 560 ohms

Free Technical Repair Tip Identifying Resistors:
Carbon and FlameProof resistors are marked with COLOR CODES. The first two color bands are the first two digits; the third color band is the "multiplier" and the fourth color band (if present) is the tolerance. Carbon Resistors that have no fourth color band are 20% tolerance.
Black = 0
Brown = 1
Red = 2 (also used for 2% tolerance)
Orange = 3
Yellow = 4
Green = 5
Blue = 6
Violet = 7
Gray = 8
White =9
Gold (as multiplier = 1/10; as tolerance = 5%)
Silver (as mulitplier = 1/100; as tolerance =10%)
Example: Green (5), Black (0), Silver (X.01) = .5 ohm
Example: Yellow (4), Violet (7), Gold (X.1) = 4.7 ohm
Example: Brown (1), Black (0), Red (add 2 "Zeros" as multiplier) = 1000 ohm
